This month, focus on career support to reassess your goals, gain fresh insights, and tap into resources designed to help you thrive. The UMGC Alumni Chapter of The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS), an initiative launched in Fall 2023, exists for this very purpose. Since its founding, nearly 1,700 UMGC alumni have participated, building leadership skills, networking, and advancing both personal and professional goals.

This holiday season, your UMGC Alumni Association is eager to spread some seasonal cheer and give you more reasons to celebrate your connection with your alma mater.

Netta Squires ’12 ’19 was recently named Cybersecurity Woman of the Year by the Cybersecurity Association at its ninth annual awards. This honor is the latest recognition Squires has received during her career in cybersecurity, emergency management, and public policy.

For 35 years, the UMGC Alumni Association has been honoring the best and brightest in the UMGC community with the UMGC Alumni Awards. This program recognizes some of our most successful alumni for their achievements, service and engagement in their careers and communities. This year’s eight award recipients will be honored in a special ceremony at the College Park Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in October.

Kwame Johnson ‘08 wound up incarcerated during his senior year of high school after falling in with the wrong crowd. Many in his situation go on to become repeat offenders and spend their lives in and out of jail, but not Johnson.
